This wildlife habitat area is owned by the US Bureau of Reclamation and managed by Western Colorado Wildlife Habitat Assn.

DAMAGING or DESTRUCTION of any posted signage or failure to abide by posted rules may be prosecuted accordingly.

The following property-use RULES and REGULATIONS apply to the DeBeque Wildlife Area:

  1. The wildlife property is closed to the public from March 15th through July 31st. This closure is for wildlife protection purposes.
     
  2. Property (including parking area) is for daytime use only.
     
  3. Property to include parking   area is a designated quiet area. No loud noises.
     
  4. Parking is allowed only in two designated parking areas. Park only in a manner as not to block others from parking.
     
  5. You may only enter   property from the two parking areas provided.  Caution, the upper portion (area 4) of this property is only accessible by boat or by walk-in through private property.  You will need owner permission to cross private property.
     
  6. Parking areas are for property guests only. No staging is allowed for off-property activities.
     
  7. No unauthorized vehicles or bicycles allowed on property beyond parking area.
     
  8. The property is for wildlife habitat.  No dogs or any other pets are allowed. (see #14 for only dog exception) 
     
  9. No gaming of any kind will be permitted on property, this includes paintball activities.
     
  10. No overnight camping, no  fires or fireworks and no firearms. (see # 14 for only firearm exception)
     
  11. No glass containers are allowed on property.
     
  12. Close all gates and stay away from water and irrigation control devices, pipes and other equipment.
     
  13. Hunting and fishing is permitted (except during seasonal closure) as allowed by Colorado Division of Wildlife Rules and Regulations.
     
  14. Firearms and dogs are allowed as hunting aids only. No target shooting.

Read all additional posted property rules before entering any property. Please help preserve this wildlife property for future public use. Please do not litter.

Property boundaries are fenced and/or signed. Please respect adjacent private property.
