This wildlife habitat area is owned by
the US Bureau of Reclamation and managed by Western Colorado Wildlife
Habitat Assn.
DAMAGING or DESTRUCTION of any posted
signage or failure to abide by posted rules and regulations may be
prosecuted accordingly.

The following property-use RULES and REGULATIONS apply to the Orchard
Mesa Wildlife Area:

The
wildlife property is closed to the public from March 15th through July
31st. This closure is for wildlife protection purposes.

Property
(including parking area) is for daytime use only.
-
Property
to include parking area is a designated quiet area. No loud noises.
-
Parking
is allowed only in the designated parking area. Park facing the north
fence only and in a manner as not to block others from parking.
-
You
may only enter the property from this parking area.
-
Parking
area is for property guests only. No staging is allowed for off-property
activities .
-
No
unauthorized vehicles or bicycles allowed beyond parking area.
-
The
property is for wildlife habitat. No dogs (see #15 for exception) or
any other pets are allowed.
-
No
gaming of any kind will be permitted on property, this includes
paintball activities.
-
No
overnight camping and no fires or fireworks.
-
No
firearms. (See # 14 for only exception.)
-
No
glass containers are allowed on property.
-
Close
all gates and stay away from any water and irrigation control devices, pipes and other equipment.
-
Only waterfowl hunting and a
limited-draw archery deer hunt are allowed on the OMWA. Limited-draw
archery deer permit applications may be obtained from the local Colorado Division of Wildlife office. Waterfowl hunting
is only allowed from the blind provided. Blind is assigned at parking
area by placing card provided on dash board of vehicle and is available
daily on a first-come first-serve basis only. No more than 4 hunters may
use blind at any one time. Only one vehicle is allowed in the parking
area for hunting blind use. No jump shooting to and from blind. Hunting
is restricted to bow or shotgun (shot shells) only. Failure to keep the
hunting blind area clean of trash and spent cartridges or non-compliance
with posted rules and regulations could result in loses of this hunting
opportunity.
- No
more than two dogs at a time are allowed as a waterfowl hunting aid.
Hunter must have control of dogs at all times especially to and from the
hunting blind.

No
other hunting is allowed.

Any
additional hunting rules and regulations as posted in the Colorado
Division of Wildlife hunting brochures apply to the two hunting
opportunities provided and are enforced.
- River fishing is allowed (except
during seasonal closure). Rules and regulations as posted in the
Colorado Division of Wildlife fishing brochures apply.
Read all additional posted property
rules before entering property. Please help preserve this wildlife
property for future public use. Please do not litter.
Property boundaries are fenced and/or
marked and signed. Please respect adjacent private property.
